观是风行地上：风吹过地面，什么都能看到。占到观，说明当下最该做的是「看」，不是「动」。观有两种视角：一是被人看（做榜样），二是自己看（审视）。卦辞说「盥而不荐」——洗手净心的那一刻最有诚意，仪式做完了反而空。所以观的重点是观察的质量，不是观察的量。
