小过
Thunder on the mountain. Small exceeds are fine, great ones are not. Fly low. Better to be a little too modest, a little too frugal.

象曰：山上有雷，小过；君子以行过乎恭。

稍微过头一点，但别做大事。
小过是山上有雷：雷在山上响，声音偏了。占到小过，是「小有过越」的卦——可以做小事，不可做大事。卦辞说「可小事，不可大事」。小过的象是「飞鸟遗之音」：鸟飞过留下声音，意思是不要往高处飞太远。做法是「行过乎恭，丧过乎哀，用过乎俭」：在礼节、悲伤、节俭上宁可过头。

Heaven withdrawing from the mountain. Retreat in time is the strongest defence. Withdraw early and cleanly — the danger is being last out.

Thunder high in the sky: great force. The ram charges the hedge and gets its horns caught. Force is not the method — restraint at the right place is.
